Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins' uncle, is considered a living legend of the Shire. Bilbo spends the first hundred years of his life in contemplation until he becomes an adventurer, skilled thief, and discoverer of the Ring. Together with Gandalf, Thorin Oakenshield, and the other adventurers, he sets out to retrieve the treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug. On his 111th birthday, he leaves the ring he found during his memorable journey to Frodo.
Bilbo Baggins also came into possession of the Sting sword during his journey to Erebor, when he was accompanied by Gandalf and the thirteen dwarves. They found it in a troll cave. The sword was forged in the First Age in Gondolin. Thanks to the Elvish arts of forging, the sword began to glow blue when orcs were nearby.
In the War of the Ring, Bilbo handed the Sting sword to his nephew Frodo in Rivendell. During the arduous journey to Mordor, the sword often came in handy for Frodo. After Frodo was defeated by the spider Shelob, Sam took up the sword and contributed much to the success of the adventure. Later, Frodo handed the sword to Sam.
The Sting sword sheath features a leather sheath, solid metal elements, and a leather strap for attachment.
